Body Photograms (in the void) comprises a series of large scale 42.5”x90” gelatin silver prints, photograms of the artist’s body at increasing levels of exposure. The figure begins as the most basic points of contact between the body and the paper, emerging by the end as a full silhouette. Chemical marks along each side, remnants of the developing process, frame the image as a void emerging from the alchemical ether. When exhibited, the prints are duct taped directly to the wall; each installation gradually degrades the print, mimicking the inevitable deterioration of the body itself. Likewise, the dimensional and tactile qualities of the prints emerge, as they curl and buckle against the tape, resisting the flatness of a two-dimensional void.

Exhibited at Hope College’s De Pree Gallery in Holland, MI. Spring 2022.
